symptoms at 9 dpo

What is happening to your body at 9 DPO?

If you are pregnant at 9 DPO, your body is actually changing drastically. The embryo has already been fertilized and has moved through the fallopian tubes into the uterus. Your embryo may have already implanted at 9 days past ovulation. The embryo could implant at any time between 6 DPO and 12 DPO.

Once the blastocyst implants, the pregnancy hormone HCG is released into your body. It continue to dig deeper into the uterine wall.

The hormone progesterone begins to increase causing you to feel unlikeable symptoms. But, this does not mean if you do not feel anything you are not pregnant. Many women don’t feel anything this early.

It is possible not to implant on 9 days past ovulation. In this case, you would not have any of the pregnancy hormone, HCG, in your system yet. So, if you think you could be pregnant, wait a few days and then begin reading your symptoms or just take a sensitive pregnancy test.

What pregnancy symptoms are experienced at 9 DPO?

Pregnancy Symptoms 9 DPO

At 9 DPO, you may feel these pregnancy symptoms: fatigue, cramping, breast tenderness, spotting, nausea and backache. Here is a few more details about each symptom.

Fatigue at 9 DPO

Once your embryo implants into the uterine wall, the hormone progesterone begins to increase fast making sure you maintain the pregnancy. Progesterone prevents the uterine lining from shedding. We need the uterine lining to stay in tact to keep the embryo growing inside of it.

However, an increase in progesterone causes bad symptoms like fatigue. If you start feeling tired when you haven’t been active lately, you may be pregnant.

But, remember fatigue alone is not a good indicator you are pregnant. If you have additional symptoms, then you should they could be better indicators of pregnancy.

Cramping at 9 DPO

As mentioned before, you could implant at 9 days past ovulation. This may cause implantation cramping. Implantation cramping is not always noticed by women since it usually doesn’t hurt. It feels like something is pinching you in your lower abdomen or pelvic area.

During all three of my pregnancies, I have felt implantation cramping. One out of three pregnant women feel it. This means that you have a higher percentage of not feeling it. Cramping at a time earlier than you expect to feel period cramping is a good indicator of pregnancy.

Breast Tenderness

This is a very common pregnancy symptom.  It is also a very common PMS symptom.

However, you would have much more breast tenderness during pregnancy. They would be highly sensitive, and you would be able to tell the difference.

Breast tenderness during early pregnancy (9 DPO) is caused by the two hormones progesterone and estrogen. These two hormones surge during pregnancy and right after implantation.

When you first become pregnant, your body automatically knows that it needs to prepare your breasts for producing milk. This takes a lot time. So, they begin to change from the very start of this journey.

You may notice that your nipples can start to get sensitive too. Wear baggier shirts and looser bras to help with the pain. with time, your nipples and your two areola, the circular areas around your nipples, will get darker and bigger.

Spotting / Light Bleeding

Many women have bleeding during early pregnancy. To be exact, one out of three women experience implantation bleeding. Implantation bleeding occurs when the embryo attaches itself to the uterine wall and begins to bury itself within it.

This could cause a little bit of bleeding that is usually pink or brown in color. It should not be heavy or be red in color. It usually occurs right before you expect your period so you may get confused.

But again, you can tell the difference by the color of the blood and the amount. Also, you should not see any blood clots.

Some women may experience bleeding that is not implantation bleeding. Always contact your doctor. Bleeding during early pregnancy does not need to indicate that something bad is happening. Some pregnant women bleed through their entire pregnancy.

Nausea and Food Aversions

During early pregnancy, the hormonal changes and the pregnancy hormone, HCG, causes nausea and food aversions. Some people believe that you start to dislike certain foods because your body believes it’s harmful for your baby.

Here are some foods you may not want to eat during pregnancy: coffee, meat, tea, eggs and food with a lot of spices like Mexican food.

Food aversion and nausea whether with vomiting or not can start as early as 9 DPO. It depends on your body. With my first child, I felt nauseous right away. With my second child, I began to get nauseous around 6 weeks of pregnancy.

The best way to reduce nausea and food aversions during pregnancy is by breaking meals into smaller  portions and eating more frequently.

Backache at 9 DPO

Even though it is very early in your pregnancy, your body knows what it needs to do within the next 9 months. from the very beginning your uterus prepares to expand for your growing baby. This can cause back pain at 9 DPO.

Many women think that having back pain as early as 9 DPO means that they are going to get their period. Backaches is a common PMS symptom, but it is in fact a pregnancy symptom too.

If you are having lower back pain that you usually don’t feel, you should take a pregnancy test. I remember during my second pregnancy my back kept hurting. I was so scared to miscarry, but I didn’t. My child is now 18 months and very healthy.

9 DPO Cervical Mucus

It is possible for cervical mucus to change during pregnancy. Cervical mucus is the fluid like substance that is secreted bu the vagina throughout your cycle.

Right after your period the cervical mucus is usually thick and not too much. Around ovulation, it becomes clear and more elastic. You would notice it would increase in amount. After ovulation, it becomes thick again.

When the embryo implants into the uterine wall, your cervical mucus may change. It will become much thicker, and it may have a little blood in it. The blood could be brown, pink, or red. This is implantation bleeding.

  • Metallic taste in mouth.

  • High BBT

What if you have no symptoms at 9 days after ovulation?

Having no symptoms at 9 DPO is very common. Most women hav no idea that they are pregnant u til they missed their period. Usually, HCG is still low during 9 DPO and it is what causes you to have symptoms.

Most women experience nausea during pregnancy, but usually it shows up around 6 weeks of pregnancy. Also, a few women have no symptoms at all from the beginning to the end of their pregnancy.

If you do not experience any symptoms, wait until 14 DPO and take a pregnancy test. Your result would be pretty accurate at the time.

When should I test?

If you want an accurate result, you should test for pregnancy the day after you expect your period. So, around 15 DPO. Take the test in the morning when your urine is concentrated. First morning urine is the best.

If you do not know when you ovulated, repeat the test every two days if you still think your pregnant. If you want, you could also take a blood test at your doctor’s office. You could take it any time after 11 DPO. You can actually take it before 11 DPO, but it is more accurate after 11 DPO.

Yes, you can take a pregnancy test at 9 DPO. If you have implanted before 9 DPO, you may get a positive on a pregnancy test.

The only thing to keep in mind is that you can get a false negative result on a pregnancy test at 9 DPO. The change of getting a positive pregnancy test when pregnant at 9 DPO is 47.5 percent.

What does getting BFP at 9 DPO mean?

Congrats! You are pregnant. Getting a BFP at 9 DPO is very good because it means your embryo has implanted around a good time and it is producing enough HCG to show up on a pregnancy test.

However, an early BFP does not guarantee that your pregnancy is healthy. You could still have a chemical pregnancy, a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy.

But again, the chances of those happening is just like with any pregnancy. So, be happy and enjoy this journey.

Is it possible to get a BFN and still be pregnant at 9 DPO?

  • The embryo may have not implanted yet or has just implanted.
  • Your pregnancy test may not be sensitive.

In Conclusion
