What happens to your body at 10 DPO?

At 10 DPO, the embryo may have implanted and your body will begin to produce more estrogen and progesterone.

The pregnancy hormone, HCG, will continue to increase and may cause 10 DPO pregnancy symptoms along with the increase in progesterone.

The increase in progesterone will help the baby grow and prevent the uterine wall from shedding. Some women may not implant until after 10 DPO. So at 10 DPO, the embryo may still be moving down the fallopian tubes.

The embryo would keep dividing until it reaches the uterus, and then it burrows itself into the uterine wall.

The embryo implant anytime from 6 days past ovulation to 12 days past ovulation. Also, if implantation has not occurred by 10 DPO, you would definitely not have 10 pregnancy symptoms.

What are the 10 DPO symptoms?

symptoms at 10 DPO

At 10 DPO, if your embryo has implanted within the uterine wall, you may have the following pregnancy symptoms: implantation cramps, implantation bleeding, fatigue, morning sickness, backaches, bloating, and sensitive breasts.

Here is a little more detail on symptoms at 10 DPO.

10 DPO Implantation Cramps

When your embryo implants itself at 10 DPO, you may automatically begin to feel implantation cramping.

They feel like pinches or twitches in your lower abdominal area. They cause some discomfort, but not enough to make you take pain medication like PMS or menstrual cramps.

You could feel the cramping in the middle of your pelvic are or only on one side. It usually last from a few minutes to a few hours.

10 DPO Implantation Bleeding

Sometimes, bleeding during implantation can occur at 10 days past ovulation. The bleeding is very light like a few drops, and it is pink or brown in color. Sometimes, it could be red, but it should be very light.

This happens in one out of three pregnant women. So, if you do not experience implantation bleeding, it is totally fine and does not mean you aren’t pregnant.

Sometimes, women experience both cramping and bleeding during implantation, but you could experience neither or one.

Also, some women may experience it during their first pregnancy and not the others or vice versa. The bleeding is caused by the embryo irritating blood vessels in the uterine wall.

10 DPO Fatigue

At 10 days past ovulation, progesterone can be high enough to cause fatigue which many women complain about during early pregnancy.

As mentioned before, progesterone increases when your embryo implants itself within the uterine wall. Progesterone causes so many symptoms. It is what causes most of the pregnancy symptoms women feel.

The increase in progesterone unfortunately causes fatigue and women to feel more sleepy. That is why women during early pregnancy may begin to nap more often. The best thing to do is to listen to your body and sleep.

Tender Breast & Nipples at 10 DPO

At 10 days after ovulation, your breasts and nipples may become very tender and sensitive due to the increase in progesterone. They could also begin to get darker.

Did you know that tender breasts and nipples are usually the first symptoms that show up during pregnancy?

This symptoms is also a PMS symptom. Before your period arrives, progesterone increases causing the glands in your breasts to become very swollen and tender. However, during pregnancy your breasts and nipples would be much more sensitive.

To reduce the discomfort, you could wear shirts that are not tight, and try not to bang them against anything.

Bloating at 10 Days Past Ovulation

Bloating at 10 DPO can be a PMS symptom or an early pregnancy symptom. However, if you usually do not get bloated after ovulation, then it may be a pregnancy symptom.

Usually, the bloating you experience with pregnancy would probably not occur right after ovulation like it would with normal ovulation bloating.

Again, progesterone causes most symptoms. So, an increase in progesterone would cause bloating during early pregnancy and constipation which as a result would cause bloating.

If you are really bloated, you could try to not eat foods that cause bloating like brussels sprout, cabbage or other vegetables that cause gas.

Backaches at 10 DPO

Progesterone at 10 DPO can also cause ligaments in your back to loosen up. This can cause a backache. Backaches during early pregnancy is very common, but it should not be too painful.

Backaches can also be a PMS symptom. So, if you usually have a backache right before your period, it could simply mean your period is coming.

Unfortunately, backaches could also be a symptom of miscarriage.

Nausea & Vomiting at 10 DPO

Nausea can be felt as early as 10 days past ovulation. Changes in hormones like an increase in progesterone and HCG both cause morning sickness.

It usually peaks at 6 weeks of pregnancy, but I personally felt it very early on around 10 DPO. Many women have morning sickness during their pregnancies. So, it is very common.

Try to eat several snacks in. between meals to help ease the nausea. You could be nauseous and not vomit. It can also happen all day or at any time; it doesn’t need to be in the morning.

10 DPO Cervical Mucus

If you are pregnant, your cervical mucus at 10 DPO may be very thick and may have blood in it. The blood would actually be considered implantation bleeding.

Because implantation bleeding is small in amount, you may just have a few drops of brownish or pinkish blood in the cervical mucus.

Can I test at 10 DPO?

symptoms at 10 DPO

Yes, you can test for pregnancy at 10 DPO. You have the choice to take a pregnancy test whenever you want. However, keep in mind, not all pregnancy tests can detect a pregnancy that early.

You would need a pregnancy test that can detect a level of 5 MIU/ML of HCG, or you could ask your doctor to order a blood test. Blood tests can detect early pregnancies and are very accurate.

If a blood test is not an option, I recommend taking this test, first response pregnancy test, because it can detect a very early pregnancy like a blood test.

Many women get positives as early as 10 days past ovulation. So, if you cannot wait, just take a test. The positive line may be very faint. So, test again after 48 hrs to make sure it gets darker.

If you want to save yourself from the agony of reading pregnancy tests, then just wait until you miss your period.

What if I have no symptoms at 10 DPO?

You could still be pregnant even if you have no symptoms at 10 DPO. Some people implant after 10 days past ovulation, and that would make it impossible for you to feel any pregnancy 10 DPO symptoms.

Even if your embryo has already implanted and progesterone has increased, you could have no symptoms. In fact, most pregnancy symptoms appear around 6 weeks of pregnancy which is way after 10 days past ovulation.

If you are trying to conceive and you are not experiencing any 10 DPO symptoms, do not worry. This is not the time to panic.

You could also have pregnancy symptoms and not be pregnant. Remember, PMS symptoms are very similar to the ones you may feel during early pregnancy.

Whatever the case is, relying on symptoms at 10 DPO is not a good indicator for whether you are pregnant or not.

BFP at 10 DPO

Yay, you got a BFP on 10 DPO. You should retest every 48 hrs  or when you reach 15 DPO. On 15 DPO, most results are accurate.

Unfortunately, false positive do exists. Evaporation lines are very common especially on blue dyed tests. So, take more than one test to get a definite answer.

You could get a positive very early on like on 10 days past ovulation, but your period may still arrive. You might think your pregnancy test result was wrong, but in fact, you may have had a chemical pregnancy.

A chemical pregnancy is a pregnancy that ends quickly before 5 weeks of pregnancy. This happens usually when there is something wrong with the embryo genetically. You could not stop it from occurring. So, do not blame yourself.

BFN

It is totally normal to get a Big Fat Negative at 10 DPO; you could still be pregnant. Pregnancy tests are not accurate until 15 DPO; that is one day after you expect your period.

If you get a BFN at 10 DPO, retest at 12 DPO. Also, make sure to use a first response test.

If you haven’t implanted yet at 10 DPO,  you would not get a positive until 3 days after implantation occurs. So, if you think you may be pregnant, retest after you miss your period.

Sometimes, you may still get a negative and be pregnant after you miss your period. This happens when you calculated your ovulation day wrong, or you ovulated much later than your normal cycles.

Late ovulation is caused by several reasons and decreases the likelihood of a healthy pregnancy, but it still can happen.

How accurate are pregnancy tests?

A pregnancy test at 10 DPO would not be highly accurate. A first response test can detect a pregnancy that early, but you still may get a false negative.

There is a 42 percent chance of getting a true positive on 10 DPO. This means there is a higher chance of getting a false negative.

But, that should not prevent you from taking a pregnancy test. I personally got a positive at 9 DPO.

Conclusion

Having symptoms at 10 DPO is not very common, but it is possible. You could feel cramping, nausea, a backache, and much more.

If you know your body well, you have a better chance of feeling the symptoms. Remember, not having any symptom does not mean you are not pregnant.

If you do not like waiting the entire two weeks, you could buy pregnancy strips and test everyday. The strips are much less expensive and they come in a pack.

Write your pregnancy symptoms below in the comments. I could tell you my opinion and whether you should take a pregnancy test or not.
