7 DPO Symptoms: Do you want to find out if you are pregnant? If yes, you have come to the right place. You are probably doing what I used to do. When I was trying to conceive, I searched the phrase ” symptoms 7 DPO” probably a hundred times. I am not joking.

I was so aware of my body and tried to read every symptom I could feel. Wanting a baby so badly, I wanted to know if I was pregnant as early as possible.

Interestingly, many women test for pregnancy as early as 7 days past ovulation. You can actually feel pregnancy symptoms 7 days past ovulation.

I remember I did. However, you can still be pregnant even if you don’t feel anything at 7 days past ovulation.

I got pregnant three times. In all three times (even during my chemical pregnancy), I experienced the same symptom at 7 DPO. A lot happens to your body at 7 days past ovulation if you are pregnant.

If you are interested in knowing what symptoms I felt at 7 DPO and if you can get a positive on a pregnancy test, keep reading!

What is happening to your body at 7 DPO?

Your body goes through so many changes at 7 days past ovulation if you are pregnant. DPO stands for days past ovulation.

Once you baby dance during ovulation you enter the two-week wait phase. It is called the 2ww because you have to wait two weeks for the pregnancy hormone, HCG, to increase and get a positive on a pregnancy test.

Everyone hates the two-week wait. It is hard to be patient because pregnancy is a life-changing phenomenon.

So, let’s get to it. What happens after fertilization? During the first few days past ovulation, you release an egg or two (ovulation), and one sperm fertilizes it. The fertilized egg keeps dividing and moves through the fallopian tube and enters your uterus.

At around 3 DPO, the embryo would have about 6 to 10 cells. Around 5 to 6 DPO, the fertilized egg would have so many cells.

It keeps dividing and growing. If it doesn’t divide sufficiently, the embryo may not survive.

At 6 DPO, the embryo becomes a blastocyst. It implants or attaches itself to the uterus wall, and begins to grow. At 7 days past ovulation, the embryo will continue to bury itself into the wall of the uterus.

A lot of symptoms can start to show now. If you are interested in know the symptoms 7 dpo, then continue reading. You could read my other articles about 8 DPO symptoms and 9 DPO symptoms

symptoms 7 dpo

Symptoms of seven DPO pregnancy  (7 DPO Symptoms)

At 7 DPO, you may have pregnancy symptoms including implantation cramps, implantation bleeding, mood swings, headaches, sensitive breasts, fatigue, and food cravings. Here are some more details about each.

  • Implantation Cramps

Implantation cramps are pinches or twitches you can feel when the embryo implants itself in your uterus. This is actually the symptom I felt during all three of my pregnancies.

It is not strong like period cramps, but instead very mild. It lasts from seconds to three days. I felt it for a few hours.

30 percent of women feel implantation cramps when pregnant. So, it is not that common, and if you feel it once it doesn’t mean you have to feel it during your subsequent pregnancies.

Some women feel it, but they do not notice it or think it is normal. If you know your body, you are most likely to feel it. Or, you may feel it, but only realize that it was implantation cramps after finding out you are pregnant.

Implantation cramps can happen at anytime between 6 DPO and 12 DPO. So, if you feel cramps during any of those days, it could be implantation cramps.

If you feel cramps 14 days past ovulation, it is most likely PMS. It is common to feel cramps right before your period is due.

  • Implantation Bleeding

Implantation bleeding occurs when the embryo buries itself in the uterus. It can break some blood vessels. This leads to light bleeding.

It is usually light pink or light brown in color and lasts from a few hours to three days.

In contrast, period blood is red and heavy. Implantation bleeding should not contain any blood clots. If you see blood clots, call your doctor.

Not all women experience this symptom. It happens in one out of three pregnant women. I personally did not have implantation bleeding in any of my pregnancies.

It is important to know that you can feel implantation cramps and not have implantation bleeding or vise versa.

  • 7 DPO Mood Swings

Your hormones (progesterone and estrogen) will change like crazy when you become pregnant, especially during early pregnancy. This change can cause mood swings, depression, anxiety.

If your emotions do not change right before your period and you start experiencing mood swings out of the blue, you could be pregnant.

But, please remember that mood swings are a common symptom of PMS. So, having mood swings alone is not a good indicator of pregnancy.

  • 7 DPO Headaches

Many illnesses and diseases can cause headaches. Pregnancy can do that too. The changes in hormones that occurs during early pregnancy can lead to headaches and dizziness.

If you have a severe headache see a doctor, it is better to rule out other fatal diseases that can cause headaches. It is better to be safe than sorry.

  • Sensitive Breasts

Sensitive breasts are one of the common symptoms 7 DPO. Breasts may feel more sensitive than usual or fuller. You may feel pain on the side of each breast.

During early pregnancy, a change in hormones makes breasts more painful and sensitive. This could also be a PMS symptom, but usually, they are more intensely sensitive during early pregnancy.

I personally felt this symptom. You could do a few things to decrease the pain. Try wearing a baggier bra and clothes. Don’t hit them into things, and don’t touch them.

  • Sensitive Nipples at 7 DPO

Yep, your nipples can get sensitive too. This is also due to the increase in hormones. Your body automatically prepares your body to produce milk for your baby when you become pregnant.

It is a long process and takes time, so that is why you would notice changes in your nipples and breasts very early on.

  • Fatigue at 7 DPO

Progesterone, the hormone, increases drastically during early pregnancy. It is what stops your period from showing up when you are pregnant.

Progesterone also helps people sleep. When it increases, you may get tired or feel sleepy all day. This could happen as early as 7 DPO.

An increase in progesterone can also cause constipation.

  • Food Cravings

You could have food aversions and cravings.

Again, those changes in hormones will make you disgusted by a lot of food and you may even like food that you have never liked before.

I had this symptom, and during my first pregnancy, it started at 7 DPO. I actually went to the doctor thinking that there was something wrong. Receiving a call later from my doctor, she told me I was pregnant.

If you are having food aversion, I recommend snacking on small meals. You could keep eating flavored gum too to help ease nausea.

Can you take a pregnancy test at 7 DPO?

Yes, you can definitely take a pregnancy test at 7 DPO. I know I did! And, guess what?!! Every time, I was pregnant I got a positive at 7 DPO. It was a very faint positive, but it was positive.

You could get one too, and the best part is I was able to see my lines get darker day by day. It was a great experience. Well, it was not so great when I had my chemical pregnancy. The line got lighter day by day.

Most doctors recommend you do not take a pregnancy test at 7 DPO because you are more likely to get a false negative. So, if you are more patient than I am, you should wait until you miss your period.

7 DPO and negative pregnancy test (BFN)

Getting a negative pregnancy test at 7 DPO is very common. Your HCG level is usually still low at that time, and most pregnancy tests cannot detect a very little amount of HCG.

I recommend retesting at 9 DPO if you want to know early. But, it is best to test at 14 days past ovulation when you expect your period.

By the way, some embryos take more time than usual to implant. So, at 7 days past ovulation, your baby may have not been implanted yet. If it has not been implanted yet, there would be no HCG in your system.

If you feel symptoms 7 DPO, you should wait and retest.

Seven DPO and positive pregnancy test

If you get a positive pregnancy test, congrats! That is a really good sign. Not a lot of pregnant women get a positive pregnancy test 7 days past ovulation. It is very uncommon.

But, like I mentioned before I got a positive on 7 days past ovulation all three times. They were very very very faint positives, and I used highly sensitive pregnancy tests.

Click here to see the sensitive pregnancy tests I took.

If you do not get a positive, trust me you are not out yet.

How accurate are pregnancy tests 7 days past ovulation?

At 7 DPO, pregnancy tests are not accurate; the possibility of getting a true positive if pregnant is under 25 percent.

  • 7 DPO: The probability of a pregnancy test to be positive when you are pregnant is less than 25 percent.
  •  8 DPO: The probability of a pregnancy test to be positive when you are pregnant is 25 percent.
  • 9 DPO: The probability of a pregnancy test to be positive when you are pregnant is 33 percent.
  • 10 DPO: The probability of a pregnancy test to be positive when you are pregnant is 42 percent.
  • 11 DPO: The probability of a pregnancy test to be positive when you are pregnant is 68 percent.
  • 12 DPO: The probability of a pregnancy test to be positive when you are pregnant is 81 percent.
  • 13 DPO: The probability of a pregnancy test to be positive when you are pregnant is 93 percent.
  • 14 DPO: The day of the expected period: The probability of a pregnancy test to be positive when you are pregnant is 96 percent.
  • 15 DPO: The probability of a pregnancy test to be positive when you are pregnant is 100 percent.

In Conclusion

If you are having any of these symptoms mentioned above, you could be pregnant. Take a pregnancy test. If it is negative, retest in 48 hours.

If you do not have any of these 7 DPO symptoms, there is no need to worry. These symptoms do not guarantee a pregnancy.

It is best to wait until 14 days past ovulation to take a pregnancy test. You would save yourself the anxiety you get when you see a false negative.

But, if you do take a pregnancy test early you could watch your positive line get darker daily. It is quite fun and exciting.

Remember to take a pregnancy test in the morning. First-morning pee would have the most HCG.

If you take it at night, The morning line may be darker than your evening one. This could give you anxiety and fear that you may have a miscarriage. Learn from me and save yourself from trouble.

I hope you enjoyed the post!
